Craig Burke, a clinician by background, became increasingly frustrated by the lack of visibility into where patients were in their hospital journey. Delays were often caused by poor communication and unclear handovers between teams—no one quite knew what the patient was waiting for next.

While leading a hospital turnaround project, Craig took matters into his own hands. He began manually recording and tracking the tasks required for each patient’s progression, especially around flow and discharge management. Using a simple Excel workbook, he built a process for collecting, tracking, and coordinating actions across services. The impact was immediate—lengths of stay were reduced, and both staff and patient experiences improved.

Years later, in 2016, Craig recognised the need to turn this practical tool into a scalable technology. He invited his colleague at the time, Troy, to co-found what would become Patienteer.

 

Today, Patienteer is the only real-time platform that connects the patient journey between Hospital, GP, Community and Social Care.
